great transitions

never got boring, kept me entertained the whole way through. :)

only thing I didn't like was when you brought the crowd back in around 1:50.

great job, man.

DJ-VIZ responds:

nice glad you liked it bro

I cranked it

and rocked it like my name was ali baba.

bassline gets a little boring (before the 2:00 mark). change it up every 16 bars maybe? :)

I like when you drop at 2:00 in. :) feels like I'm playing mario's sand level! :D

lol, until the choir comes in that is. :D pretty good tune, dude. :)

INoisy responds:

Hahaha, awesome. (:

I thought about that, it does seem a little repetitive eh? I'll see if I can work in another one that flows, to change it up.

Thanks for the feedback dude, I really appreciate it. One of the most helpful things when you're trying to improve is feedback. Keep rockin' the free world. ;D

nice 2-step rhythm using synth/kick

got my head bobbin' as soon as you brought the two in together and the clap suited it nicely.

everything seems well spaced out volume-wise, subtle and well-knit.

only complaint is the melody gets a little boring. maybe use some standard verse-chorus-verse to maintain interest? :)

great stuff!

Shfty00 responds:

Thanks man, i really appreciate you getting around to leaving a review.
I glad i could get an honest opinion! =]
The volume is what i payed attention to the most,
and i didn't want to stray to far from the original thought of the song,
which i found myself doing A LOT!
(hense the repetition)

But i'll take your advice on verse-chorus-verse,
again thanks!
=D

\m/ !!!! \m/

awesome. :) just awesome.

you need to find a vocalist who can regale us with stories of minotaurs pillaging elvish fortresses whilst wizards smoke strange herbs with sorcerors from lands afar.

Metaljonus responds:

LOL That would be sweet.

good beats for both

the chip synth ringing thing gets super repetitive and annoying. would be better if you maybe treated it with some effects (like amp up the reverb slowly) to cause a build and then get rid of it completely. :)

the second part has a nice distinct drum pattern though since it seems to be the focus it would help if you changed it up a bit and had something unique to every bar (A1-A2-A1-A3-A1-A2-A1-A4 as an 8-bar pattern for example, only really 4 bars to fill out 8).

if you do feel like reviewing one of my tunes, please check out my newest one, Summer Solace ( http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/254789 ) :)

buyj3llo responds:

thanks for the review and the advice. The chip synth was a major problem with the song. Every time I tried to mess with it I ended up making it sound worse. So I took the cowards way out and just left it the way it is.

The beat in the second part is quite repetitive.

warm and full of atmosphere

was a treat to my ears. :)

excellent use of panning and stereo positioning.

the bass sounded very warm, like an analog tube synth. excellent compression, equalization and production going on here. :) just top notch stuff, loved it!

vadnoise responds:

thanks for the review!! im glad to see that the little details can be noticed

Shouldn't this be under trance? :)

Regardless, nice hard style you've got here.

However, it gets way muddled at 1:30. The heavy bass synth you're using doesn't complement your gated pad-like synth.

I understand that it's kinda the style, but seriously, can't even make out the bass part because it's conflicting with the other sounds.

Elcargo responds:

Thanks for the tips, your absolutely right. I'm going to change it one of the these days. Thenks for the professional tip :)

Mmm portamento bass

So soft and comforting. :)

Excellent harmonization with the bells. Enchanting and mystical. :)

The beat comes in subtly and professionally. All of this was very well thought out.

Kudos, man. :) I really like what you've done here.

Though, damn... :P if you knew those strings were so loud why didn't you turn em down? lol, I had it cranked cause I was liking it then I had to leap to turn my speakers down! :D lol.

TheDude447 responds:

Yea I submitted this to kongregate and everyone was like almost mad that I had them so loud lol. Thats why I put a warning in the comments hahahha xD

Rush for the 2000s?!?

Seriously, :D sounds like Rush man!

Until you breakdown at 0:40 anyhow. lol. :) Then it takes a life of its own.

I like it, man. Simple rock groove with a solid beat.

Wasn't a big fan of the slow solo 1:20-1:30 or so. seemed off-key at times, but the flourish you do at the end of that part is sick.

And then I eat my words later when they all tie together 2:40 or so in and it just gets sick. I -love- harmonized soloing and you pull it off fantastically here. :D

Excellent job, man. I would love to hear this with a singer and fully produced!

uten responds:

wow great review, I don't normally respond to these but you deserve this

everyone who bothers to read comments give this guy a '+' cause THAT is how you review!!

Duuude :)

Nice stuff here, I've made some Half-Life related tunes thrown on newgrounds as well. :)

Only thing is the snare drum sounds a little too processed in it's timing. If you threw in a couple triplets or flourishes at 16T or 32T timing you'd notice a much more human touch to your rolls. :)

Project-Half-Life responds:

I simply wanted to time the snare drum like it was in the original, but I see what you mean.

Thanks for the review!

Life is fun, I like life.
